Jon Duncan

Jon Duncan is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Southwestern men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams.

Duncan has had continued, growing success each year at Southwestern, earning back-to-back-to-back SCAC Men's Staff of the Year (2015, 2016, 2017).

Pirate success has continued under Duncan as 15 records fell during the 2013-14 season, 14 school records in 2014-15 and 13 school records in 2015-16. The Pirate men and women claimed their highest ever finish at the SCAC Championships – earning a 2nd place and 3rd place finish respectively for the second consecutive year. 

The 2012-2013 season saw the Pirates reach new heights under Duncan as he guided the men's team to their first ever win against Trinity, 19 new school records, and 4th place finishes for the men and women at the SCAC Championships.

Southwestern also had their first ever men's individual conference champion in the 500 free and two swimmers earn NCAA "B" cuts.

During the 2011-2012 season, Duncan coached both men’s and women’s teams to break 14 school records and 6th place finishes at the SCAC Championships.

Before taking over at Southwestern, Duncan was the head men’s and women’s coach at Rhodes while he guided Lynx swimmers to 70 school records. He also coached three individual conference championships and two NCAA qualifiers during his six seasons.

His teams not only excelled in the water, but also in the classroom boasting one of the highest team GPA’s at Rhodes.

Prior to Rhodes, Duncan was the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach at DePauw University for two years, assisting the men’s team to a 2005 SCAC Conference Championship with the women taking runners-up honors that same season.

Duncan is a 2002 graduate of Purdue University where he was a four-time letter winner and competed in the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100 free. He earned an M.A. from Indiana State University in 2005 and is a member of the College Swim Coaches Association (CSCA).

Jon and his wife, Mindy, daughter, Eleanor, and son, Finley reside in Georgetown.
