SAN ANTONIO – Southwestern's women's swim team finished their second day of competition with number of standout performances at the Trinity Invite.
The women sit in fourth place in the overall team standings. They trail Trinity, Henderson State and Texas-Permian Basin.
Cara Chin was first to place for the Pirates, touching seventh in her 50 freestyle with a time of 24.93. Erika Dubros raced to a fifth place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.15. Senior butterfly-specialist Kenly Gaynor swam the 100 in 1:01.01 earning sixth place for the evening.
The women's 400 individual medley featured impressive swims by first-years Brielle Adolph and Olivia Stankus. The first-year duo finished sixth and seventh, respectively, followed closely by Taylor Adams in eighth.
The Pirates closed out the night with a dazzling fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. Dubros, Gaynor, Megan Mick and Marissa Byrd raced to a 4:07.97. Each swimmer logged their fastest splits of the day.
The Trinity Invite concludes Sunday with the 200s of stroke, 100 freestyle, and mile. The Pirate women are looking to maintain momentum into the last day of competition.
