SEGUIN, Texas - Southwestern's bats were uncharacteristically quiet in their conference opener against Texas Lutheran University Friday afternoon. SU fell 2-1 in game one and 3-0 in game two.
TLU posted two runs in the first inning game of game one and it wasn't until the top of the seventh that Southwestern would cross home plate. Kaitlynn Copher started the inning strong for the Pirates with a one-out triple to center field and McKenna Zinke brought the run home with two outs but that is as close as SU could pull.
Southwestern's bats were silenced in game two as they were held without a hit to fall 3-0.
The Pirates fall to 3-9 on the year and begin 0-2 in the SCAC after Friday's action. TLU and SU are scheduled to finish their four game series in Georgetown on Saturday at 1 p.m, weather permitting.
