GEORGETOWN, Texas – Our Lady of the Lake overpowered Southwestern offensively to hand the Pirates a pair of losses 13-2 (5) and 9-5.
OLLU busted the door open in game one with four runs in the first inning. They added two in the third, six in the fourth and one in the fifth while holding Southwestern to two runs to arrive at the run rule win.
Fortunes reversed at the start of game two as Southwestern unloaded for four runs in the first inning and added one more to lead 5-0 through four innings.
The Saints' bats heated back up as they exploded for six runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. SU was unable to push any more runs across as OLLU added a few insurance runs as the game came to a close.
Marissa Irvin led at the plate, going 4-6 with one double and 2 RBIs on the day.
Southwestern (2-6) remains in their home stand to face Concordia University for a double header beginning at 1 pm.
