Marco Carvalho

Marco Carvalho joins the Pirates after spending two years at Hastings College as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program. In his two years with the Broncos, he helped the team to win the 2016 National Championship and brought the Broncos back to the 2017 National Tournament to make it to the round of 16. Before his time with the Broncos, Carvalho was the assistant coach at Iowa Western Community College, where he assisted the Reivers to the 2015 NJCAA National Tournament. In 2014, Carvalho volunteered to work at University of Central Arkansas men’s soccer team.

A native of Salvador, Brazil, Marco got recruited as a center back for the Reivers of Iowa Western Community College in 2010. He captained the team in 2011 and helped the Reivers in winning multiple conference and district titles, and in making their first two appearances at the NJCAA National Championships. Carvalho was nominated to the NJCAA All-American 2nd team and NSCAA All-American 1st team. After the JUCO years, Carvalho went on scholarship at the University of Central Arkansas. For the Bears, Carvalho had 29 appearances and played 1810 minutes.

Carvalho earned his Associate of Arts in General Studies from Iowa Western, his Bachelor of Arts in Health Education from University of Central Arkansas, and his Master of Arts in Teaching from Hastings College. He currently holds his USSF E license.
