LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia -- Zac Asbury and Aiden Gildea take both defensive and offensive SCAC Player of the Week awards for their performance in Southwestern's home opener against Huntingdon.
Asbury, who was named offensive player of the week, tallied 10 points in the Pirates' season opener scoring two goals and dishing eight helpers in Southwestern's 20-11 victory over Huntingdon. Gildea led the Pirates' back-line against the Huntingdon attack over the weekend, holding the Hawks to 11 goals on 34.4 percent shooting. He also chipped in with a helper in the second period of the contest, earning himself defensive player of the week.
Other notable players in the game against Huntingdon, Kai Knight-Turcan led the way for the Pirates with a team-high four goals followed closely by Jack Doloszyc- ki with three. Kyle Kuberski had seven saves in net with Alex Melitz adding three more.
Up next, the Pirates travel to Birmingham, Ala. and Conway, Ark. to play Birmingham-Southern and Hendrix College.
