Three Men on Pirate’s Golf Team Named All-America Scholars

Georgetown, TX – In Norman, Oklahoma, The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Divisions I, II, III and the NAIA. Southwestern's Devon Horne, Matthew Christl and Sutherland Stithearning were recognized for their academic achievements.

This marks the first time Southwestern men's golf has had three athletes to be named All-America Scholars for Division III. Out of 62 DIII athletes, Southwestern was also the only university to have three members named All-America Scholars. Matthew Christl and Sutherland Stithearning were also named SCAC Golfers of the Week for the 2017-18 season.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 79.0 in Division III  and 78.0 in NAIA. The individual must also maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of a high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
