Glenn Schwab

Schwab was born in Lichfield, Illinois. He received his Bachelors of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training at Eastern Illinois University in 1987 at which time he also earned his athletic training certificate from the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certificaiton. He continued his education at West Viriginia University where he received his Masters of Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training in 1989.
Schwabb moved to Texas in 2001 after living in Memphis, Tennessee and working as the Head Athletic Trainer at fellow SCAC member Rhodes College from 1993-2001. He received his Texas State Licensure in 2002. Before Rhodes, Schwab was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the Virginia Military Institute from 1989-1993.
Schwab and his wife Susan reside in Georgetown with their children, Rebekah and Matthew.
Miguel Benavides

Benavides was born in San Antonio, Texas where he attended Holy Cross High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education with Emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1984. He attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and earned a Master of Education in 1985. Prior to coming to Southwestern University in 1992, he served as athletic trainer and teacher at Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi, Texas and Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas.
Benavides has served as the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Training Education Program Director for Southwestern University. Presently, he serves as Associate Athletic Trainer as he seeks a Doctoral Degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Research interests within the topic of evidence-based practice include teaching athletic training students how to effectively search for empirical studies and comparative effectiveness of manual interventions to reduce musculoskeletal pain. Specialized areas of practice include Muscle Energy Techniques and Primal Reflex Release Therapy.
The blended Benavides family resides in Georgetown with children Greyson, Julian, Wilson and wife Elma. Daughter Casey attends St. Mary's Univeristy in San Antonio and stepson Armon attends Southwestern University.
Shawna Loberg

Shawna Loberg joined the SU staff in 2005 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. She received her Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a degree in Physical Education emphasizing in Athletic Training. Her Master of Science comes from Purdue University where she majored in Pedagogy & Administration.
Shawna comes to SU from the University of Missouri-Rolla where she served as the Co-Head Athletic Trainer from 2002-2004. She resides in Austin with her husband DJ.
Abbey Petrecca

Petrecca joined Southwestern’s Athletic Training staff beginning in the fall of 2009 as an assistant athletic trainer. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Salisbury University in 2007 where she was involved with their highly successful men’s lacrosse program. Petrecca was also a varsity volleyball athlete while completing her degree at Salisbury. She graduated from Towson University in 2009 with a Master’s of Science degree in Health Science. Professionally, Petrecca held a graduate assistantship at Johns Hopkins University from 2007-2009 where she had the opportunity to work directly with their national championship men’s lacrosse program.
