PIRATE WOMEN HAVE GREAT SHOWING AT TIGER ALUMNI CLASSIC
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Five personal bests, one SU record and six season bests were posted by the Southwestern women's track and field team over the weekend at the Trinity Tiger Alumni Classic.
Jillian Curran came in sixth place overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 13:45.08. Her time was not only a personal best, but also put her in the Southwestern record books.
The 4x400 relay had a season best finish of 4:22.23 for fifth place. Teh relay consisted of Kelly Myers, Tami Warner, Christina Hadly and Dianna Urrego. Warner continued her strong races with a seventh place finish in the 800 meter run in a season best time of 2:23.87. Laura Kromann also competed in the event, taking 14th place at 2:38.16.
Rounding out the track events were Busola Okunno's personal best finish of 13.94 in the 100 meter dash, Kelly Myers coming in 15th in a season best time of 16.77 in the 100 meter hurdles, Urrego's personal best finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:07.67 and Christina Hadly and Laura Wooden coming in 16th and 17th in the 1500 meter run. Hadly finished in a personal best time of 5:33.17 and Wooden finished in 5:44.82.
The excellence extended to the field as Jennifer Tindle had a season best finish in the triple jump (10.38m) for eighth place. Taylin Eckols had two strong field event finishes, posting season best results in both events. She took seventh in the javelin at 24.56m and 13th in the shot put at 8.93m. Jodi Wilson rounded out the field events for SU with a ninth place finish in the javelin at 23.08.
Southwestern has one last regular season meet in San Antonio on Friday before heading to the SCAC Championships the following weekend.
