PIRATES CONTINUE SEASON AT TARLETON RELAYS
STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Southwestern headed West just before Spring Break to compete against upper level Texas competition at the Tarleton Relays.
To open the meet the Pirates finished just slower than their seed times in the 100 and 200 meter dash. In the 100, Nekia Tharps finished in 20th at 13.81, Busola Okunnu came in 22nd at 14.83 and Ana Rivera took 24th at 16.78. Rivera continued her day with a 22nd place finish in the 200 meter dash coming in at 34.36.
Christina Hadly came in 19th in the women's 1500, finishing in 5:38.59 while Laura Wooden came in just seconds later at 5:41. Tharps had the highest finish of the day for Southwestern taking 12th place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.67. In the same race, Kelly Myers ended in 17th place at 17.77.
Rounding out the Pirates' competition was Lisa Morse who finished in a time of 21:33 in the 5000 meter run and Taylin Eckols who competed in the shot put and javelin.
The Pirates will have two weeks off before their next competition. They head to UT-Arlington on March 27th to participate in the Bobby Lane Invitational.
