WOMEN TAKE OFF AT INCARNATE WORD INVITE
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Pirate women's track and field team had a strong showing at their first event of the season, taking on tough Texas competition at the Incarnate Word Invitational.
Southwestern had their best finish of the day taking fourth in the sprint relay. The team of Jennifer Tindle, Busola Okunnu, Kelly Myers and Nekia Tharps finished in a time of 54.35. The sprint medley relay of Tharps, Myers, Tindle and Dianna Urrego established an SU record, finishing in a time of 2:05.52.
Continuing the relay success of the Pirates Tami Warner, Jillian Curran, Laura Kromann and Christina Hadly joined up in the distance medley relay, coming in fifth.
The 4x400 relay of Tindle, Warner, Urrego and Hadly took sixth place with a time of 4:30.9.
Other finishes for Southwestern were Tharps' 12th place finish in the 100m hurdles in a time of 17.58 and Kelly Myers' 14th place finish in the same event of 17.85. Hadly came in 11th in the 800m with a time of 2:52.30.
The Pirates continue their season at the Tarleton Relays on March 11th in Stephenville, TX.
