Pirates Swim To First Victory of The Season

Abilene, Texas – The Southwestern Women's Swimming Team won a decisive victory over McMurry State by a point total of 109-49. The win was the first of the year for the Pirates who wanted to make a statement. The 400 Medley Relay Team finished first with a time of 4:29.09 made that statement with a great performance. The team is made up of Emmy Gradisar, Mara Weidmann, Melissa Nelson, and Sarah Alpini.

Not to be outdone the 200 Medley Relay team showed that they were up to the task also. The team made up of Emily Haskell, Blythe Nava, Jessi Winters, and Sarah McCausland finished first with at time of 1:48.38

Sarah Alpini also finished first in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:08.46 Melissa Nelson put together a strong performance with a first place finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:24.03.  Emily Haskell finished first in two events, the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:23.47 and the 100 Freestyle with a time of 56.86. Sarah McCausland put in a great effort coming in first with the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:48.74. Blythe Nava also did fantastic with a first place finish in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.50

The Pirates will take on UT Permain Basin in Midland, TX for their next meet.
