LORYN JOHNSON NAMED ASSISTANT SOFTBALL COACH
Southwestern University's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Glada Munt announced the hiring of Loryn Johnson as the Assistant Softball Coach.
“We are excited to have someone of her caliber joining our program,” says Head Coach Angela Froboese. “I am looking forward to extending the winning tradition we have already started here at Southwestern with Loryn. Her experience and success will be great additions to the Pirate Softball program.”
Johnson, a native of Allen, TX, is a 2010 graduate of The University of Texas. Johnson started every game in her 4 year career with Texas where she ranks second all-time in career batting average (.349) and first in slugging percentage (.562). Following her career at Texas, she went on to play professionally with the Tennessee Diamonds in 2010.
The Pirate Softball team begins their season February 12th at Texas Lutheran. Their first home game will be February 20th versus The University of Texas-Tyler at 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
