PIRATE SOFTBALL FINISHES SEASON RANKED IN TOP 25
GEORGETOWN, Texas – In only their second season, the Southwestern softball team is ranked 23rd in the nation according to the final ranking of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll is voted on by eight NCAA Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions. The previously unranked Pirates received 28 points to land them in the 23rd position.
The Pirates ended the season with a 33-13 record. With an SCAC tournament run that earned the Southwestern softball team their first Conference Championship, the Pirates received three Second Team All-SCAC selections, three Honorable Mentions and Co-Coach-of-the-Year honors, as well as naming two to the NFCA Third Team All-West Region squad.
The Pirates advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament losing to eventual champion East Texas Baptist in the semi-finals. The future looks bright for the Pirates as they only graduate one player, Katelyn Gola.
