Women's Soccer Kick Off the Season With a Win
Aug. 31, 2008
Southwestern women's soccer began the 2008 season this weekend with a strong showing in Marshall, Texas, beating the East Texas Baptist University Lady Tigers 4-1.
While strongly in control throughout the game, the Pirates started out slowly as the team felt out its rhythm under new coaches Jené Baclawski and Amanda Garrison. By twenty minutes into the first half, Southwestern hit its stride as sophomore Lauren Kjolhede scored its first goal off an assist by Danielle Madison. Juniors Andi Miller and A.J. Andreola added two more points early in the second half, with one additional goal by Miller late in the game.
The Pirates will continue their season on the road next weekend as they look to take on University of Texas - Dallas this Friday (Sep. 5) and University of Texas - Tyler on Sunday (Sep. 7).
