The SU women's golf team closed out day three at the NCAA Division III National Championship in Waverly, IA on Thursday (May 15) in second place with one round remaining. Junior Marisa Mauldin (Utopia, TX/Utopia HS) is still the Pirates' top performer with a 235 (76-78-81), tied for 17th overall. She is six strokes out of the top-ten. The low round of the day once again belonged to sophomore Cody Wallace (Austin, TX/Lake Travis HS) as she fired a 76. Her total for the tournament is 239 (87-76-76) and she is in a 8th-place tie. Tied for 26th is Kristen Davenport (Mansfield, TX/Mansfield HS) with a 237 (76-84-77). Delilah Dominguez (Bastrop, TX/Bastrop HS) is one stroke behind Wallace at 240 (79-82-79), tied for 31st. First-year Victoria Dominguez (Bastrop, TX/Bastrop HS) is tied for 37th with a three-round tally of 243 (78-84-81). Southwestern is the only team in the field to have all five of its golfers in the top-40. Tournament leader Methodist University is the only school that is close with all but one golfer among the 40 lowest rounds, but their number five is tied for 64th. As a team, the Pirates are shooting a 78-over par 942 (309-320-313), 27 strokes behind Methodist. DePauw University sits just three strokes behind SU. The tournament will conclude on Friday (May 16) in Waverly with the Pirates once again teeing off at 12:50, paired with DePauw and Methodist.
