GOLFERS SET TO HIT THE LINKS AT SCAC TOURNAMENT

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The men's and women's golf teams have had great showings in their final tournaments leading up to the SCAC Championships to be held in Stone Mountain, Ga beginning on Friday.

The women are in search of their sixth SCAC conference title at the tournament, fourth in a row this weekend. The Pirates tee off beginning at 9:40 on the back nine with DePauw and Centre. Kristen Davenport leads the way for the Pirates, shooting an average score of 79.33 in 15 rounds this year. In seven tournaments this season she has taken first three times and finished second once. As a team Southwestern has a 330.87 average and have finished first four times.

The Pirate men are planning on making big waves at the tournament, looking for thier first ever conference title. They have finished second once and third numerous times but the conference title continues to elude them. Southwestern will tee off on the front nine beginning at 9:40 with Rhodes and Oglethorpe. SU have used a balanced team effort all season with any Pirate able to put up a low round at anytime. Senior Ricky Jones has been the most consistant for Southwestern with a 75.32 average through 19 rounds. He has finished in first place once and in the top 10 three times. Collectively, the Pirates are averaging 302.79, winning one tournament and finishing in the top five in six others.
