WOMEN GOLFERS PUT UP GOOD SHOWING AT JEKYLL ISLAND
JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Southwestern University women's golf team met some stiff competition at their tournament over spring break in Georgia and performed well finishing in sixth place overall out of 23 teams.
Senior Kristen Davenport steadily improved throughout the tournament to have the highest finish of the weekend for the Pirates at 6th place. She shot an opening round 81 and followed up with a 79 on day two and 78 on day three to finish with 238 strokes at +22.
First-year Kelsey Coburn came in at a tie for 37th with consistent play. She shot an 86 on day one and day three and an 87 in her second round to finish with 259 strokes and 43 over par.
First-year Erin Perry tied with one other golfer for 43 place at 44 over par with 260 strokes while senior Cody Wallace was close behind with 261 strokes at 45 over par, tied for 45th place.
First-year Stephanie Scholer rounded out the Pirates effort tied for 49th place with 263 strokes.
SU will next host the Southwestern Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 29th and 30th, at Berry Creek Country Club.
