WOMEN'S GOLF SITS IN A TIE FOR 11TH PLACE AFTER DAY ONE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP


After one day at the NCAA Championships in Port St. Lucie, FL the Southwestern University Pirates sit in 11th place.

Kristen Davenport started off lights out with two birdies in her first nine holes and ended in a tie for sixth place with two other golfers at four over par. Her finish was the best for the Pirates on the day. Just five golfers shot better than Davenport and she is only four strokes off the lead.

Behind Davenport was Emily Bartholet who shot a first round seven over par that put her in an eight way tie for nineteenth place.

Marisa Mauldin finished at nine over par on the day to put her in six way tie for 34th place. Victoria Dominguez's first round of 19 over par placed her at in a tie for 96th place while Cody Wallace ended at 20 over par and in a tie for 98th place.

The Pirates are currently in 11th place and tee off beginning at 7:30am on Thursday.
