PIRATES FALL TO HENDRIX ON THE ROAD 68-59

Southwestern University held Hendrix to just 33.3% shooting on their home court for the game but fell 68-59 on Friday night.

The Pirates led early in the game going up by four with 16 minutes left, but that would be their only lead of the game. Hendrix rattled off eight straight points to go up 15-8 with 13 minutes left in the first half. The Warriors led by as many as 18 twice in the first half, but the Pirates were able to pull the lead back to 11, 34-23, on a three pointer by first-year guard Taylin Eckols.

In the second half Southwestern pulled within three points with eight minutes remaining on a pair of free throws by sophomore center Staley Mullins. Hendrix responded by going on a 9-2 run to push the lead back to ten, 56-46, with six and a half minutes remaining.

Senior forward Natasha Azizi led the Pirates with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Junior guard Jennifer Tindle and sophomore center Katie Kern chipped in 12 and 10 points respectively. Mullins continued to add to her block total with four. She now has 60 blocks on the season and moves into ninth place on the SCAC season leader list.

With the loss the Pirates fall to 5-17 overall and 1-11 in SCAC action. They travel to take on Millsaps on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
