Brinkoeter returns to Southwestern for her third season after a short hiatus from college coaching. She served as the head women's basketball coach from 2002-2005 and amassed a 40-38 record and .513 winning percentage while guiding the Pirates to two conference tournament berths and a fifth place finish in the 2003-04 season. In her first season back she coached the Pirates to their first SCAC Conference Tournament victory and first SCAC All-Tournament Team selection (Shae Seagraves) and repeated the feat in 2011-12 by advancing to the semifinals while Chelsea Leeder earned an All-Tournament team slot.

Recruiting quality student-athletes has always been a priority for Brinkoeter and she did just that during her first tenure, coaching five All-SCAC selections and amassing a team GPA of over 3.0 during all three seasons. Upon her return, Brinkoeter has coached eight All-SCAC players and has had the SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year for two years running, Chelsea Leeder (2010-11) and Jordan Owens (2011-12).

During the interim from college coaching Brinkoeter has maintained contact with the game by coaching the highly-competitive Georgetown Fury Select Club Basketball Team and serving as Athletic Director and Coach at Grace Academy of Georgetown.

Brinkoeter is a 1995 graduate of Southwestern and has a Masters of Education in Exercise Science from Auburn University in 1996.

Prior to coming to SU, Brinkoeter served as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Texas A&M University Kingsville for two seasons before taking on head coaching duties at Blinn College from 1998-2002.

While at Blinn Brinkoeter guided the Buccaneer Women’s Basketball program to a 52-39 record, including a 23-8 record in 1999-2000 where they advanced to the Regional semifinal. She produced two All-Region selections, a Kodak All-American, an Honorable Mention All-American and a District VI Kodak All-American during her tenure.

Kerri, her husband, Ashley, and two children reside in Georgetown, Texas.
