HERBST RECEIVES TOP AWARD FROM SOUTHERN SOCIOLOGICAL SOCIETY
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Senior sociology major Jessica Herbst is receiving the 2010 Odum Award for best undergraduate research paper from the Southern Sociological Society. She will receive the award at the society’s annual meeting in Atlanta, Ga., April 21-24.

COX AND HERBST EARN SCAC ALL-SPORTSMANSHIP TEAM SELECTIONS
SUWANEE, Ga. – The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced its second annual Men’s and Women’s Basketball All-Sportsmanship teams. Twelve men’s basketball and twelve women’s basketball student-athletes were selected to the 2009-2010 squads, including Southwestern's A.C. Cox and Jessica Herbst.

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Sophomore baseball player Nate Shipp and junior Shae Seagraves were selected to participate in the Career in Sports Forum sponsored by the NCAA. The duo will travel to Indianapolis May 11-14 for the educational and professional development seminars.

SEAGRAVES LEADS PIRATES IN ALL-SCAC VOTING
JACKSON, Miss. - In voting by head coaches junior Shae Seagraves was named to the All-SCAC Second Team in her first season as a Pirate. Seagraves was the highest honored Southwestern player and was joined by junior Staley Mullins who was an Honorable Mention selection.

REBOUNDS LEAD TO PIRATE LOSS IN FIRST ROUND OF SCAC TOURNEY; FALL TO DEPAUW 81-43
JACKSON, Miss. - The Pirate women's basketball team was out-rebounded by 28 in the first round of the SCAC tournament, leading to an 81-43 loss to first seed and nationally ranked DePauw University.

PIRATES RECEIVE BID TO SCAC TOURNAMENT, FACE DEPAUW IN FIRST ROUND
GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Southwestern women's basketball team has received a bid to the 2010 SCAC Conference Tournament and will enter as the fourth seed in the West with an 10-15 overall record and a 6-10 SCAC record. They face the #1 seed in the West, DePauw (22-3, 15-1), on Friday at 1:00 pm in Jackson, Miss. at Belhaven College.

SENIORS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON, FALL TO TRINITY 57-68
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University and its women's basketball team recognized three seniors in their final home game of the season but fell 57-68 to conference rival Trinity. The loss drops SU to 10-15 on the year and 6-10 in the SCAC but their post-season hopes remain alive as Millsaps upset Colorado College at home.

SHERMAN, Texas - The women's basketball team lead by 13 points with eight minutes remaining in the second half but were unable to hold off the second place 'Roos as they dropped the second game of their last road trip 64-58. SU is now 10-14 on the year and 6-9 in the SCAC.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Southwestern's women's basketball team lost to Colorado College in overtime 86-79 to drop out of fourth place in the West by half a game. The Pirates drop to 10-13 overall and 6-8 in the SCAC while the Tigers improve to 12-10 overall and 6-7 in the conference.

PIRATES UPSET HENDRIX BEHIND DOUBLE-DOUBLES FROM MULLINS, SEAGRAVES
GEORGETOWN, Texas – Juniors Shae Seagraves and Staley Mullins each recorded a double-double as the Pirates upset West leading Hendrix 70-55 in the Robertson Center on Saturday night. Southwestern improves to 10-12 on the year and 6-7 in the SCAC and moves into fourth place with the win while the Warriors fall to 15-4 overall and 10-3 in the conference.

JACKSON, Miss. – The Southwestern women’s basketball team hit a hot streak in their first road game of the new year, beating SCAC foe Millsaps 66-59. The Pirates shot 51.1% from the floor and 43.8% beyond the arc to improve to 6-7 on the season and 2-2 in the conference. Millsaps continues to search for their first win as they fall to 0-13 overall and 0-4 in the SCAC.
