Flanigan named as SCAC Character & Community Honoree

Patrick Flanigan, a junior from Austin, Texas, on the men's swimming and diving team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending January 22, 2012.

Flanigan serves as a Head Resident Assistant on campus for Southwestern and was the Fall 2010 Pledge Class President of Kappa Alpha Order. He is currently serving as President of SU's chapter of Alpha Chi Honor Society.

Flanigan has put his chemistry knowledge to good use, tutoring fellow students in Organic Chemistry throughout the year while working on his honors thesis on the Analysis of Anthocyanin.

Off-campus, Flanigan is an active participant in Upward Bound, working with young students to prepare for the rigors of higher education. He is also a volunteer for the Texas Home Health Hospice.
