Pirates Push Roos to Limit in Narrow Defeat

The Southwestern men's swimming team were narrowly defeated 132-128 by the Austin College men's swim team Saturday during Carls Jr. Day at the Southwestern University Natatorium.  The Pirates took first place in eleven of the fourteen events that both teams competed in.  However, the lone diver in the men's competition was a Roo, thus giving Austin College an eighteen point lead almost by default.  The meet came down to the final relay with Southwestern leading the meet 124-121.  The 200 yard freestyle relay came down to the final swimmers as the Austin College team touched the wall only a quarter of a second before the Southwestern team could finish.  Despite the loss, the Pirates showed that their constant improvement over the year has given them the opportunity and ability to give the SCAC a run for its money.
