Head Coach Don Gregory

Now in his 15th season as head coach, Don Gregory has turned the Pirate program into one of the most competitive in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

In 2010 the Pirates had their best overall finish in the SCAC with another 2nd place finish going 9-2 in conference action, including beginning the conference season 6-0. The Pirate team advanced to the SCAC Conference Tournament Semi-final game in 2011, the first year of the tournament. In 2001, Gregory led the team to a 14-5-1 overall record, which stands as his most single season wins at SU. Adding on to his string of accomplishments, a school record six players were selected to the All-Conference team in 2006, along with two All-Region picks, and another 5 All-SCAC selections in 2007.

On October 7, 2007 Coach Gregory recorded his 100th win as the head coach of the Pirates and his collegiate coaching career, where he led the team to a 6-0 victory vs. Hendrix College on Southwestern's home field. His efforts during the 2007 season did not go unnoticed where his peers in the conference selected him to SCAC Coach of the Year honors.

Gregory also has 17 years of high school soccer coaching experience under his belt, most recently at Oak Ridge High School in 1996. In addition to Oak Ridge High School, Gregory has coached at Westfield High School (1990-96), Strake Jesuit Prep (1985-90), North Shore High School (1983-85), and St. Thomas Catholic High School (1980-83). Gregory is also very active in the soccer community, he has served in many different capacities: executive director of the Texas Association of High School Soccer Coaches (1994); president of the Texas Association of High School Soccer Coaches 19993-94); member of the UIL Advisory Board (1991-980); staff coach for the South Texas State Olympic Development Program (1988-present); and staff member/director of several Houston-area youth level soccer camps.
