LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Daniel Poole, a senior goalkeeper from Shreveport, La. has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 15.
Poole had a huge impact on the game against rival Trinity with a shutout and win over the Tigers. During the game, Poole set a new Southwestern University record for saves in the match with 15.Poole played 135 minutes in goal this weekend and recorded 17 saves while only allowing one goal.
The Pirates went 1-3 last week including an upset win over conference rival Trinity on Tuesday night. Southwestern is 3-4 on the year and 1-0 in conference play. They continue SCAC action this week as they return home for the first time since opening weekend to face Schreiner on Friday night and Texas Lutheran on Sunday. Friday's match is set for 8 p.m. and Sunday will begin at 2 p.m.
