Men's Soccer Supports 'The Locker'
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Saturday's men's soccer match between Trinity and Southwestern will be more than just a rivalry game, it will be an opportunity for fans to support The Locker.
The Locker, formerly named the Eagle Locker, is a student-based initiative supervised by GISD and was created and maintained by GHS student-athletes as a means of serving their fellow students in need. Donated products and purchased items are kept in a GHS spce and are discreetly available, free of charge, to students considered homeless. The Locker is know available at both high schools, GAP, Ninth Grade Center and all three middle school campuses.
The Locker Night Program this Saturday is to promote awareness of the homeless population in GISD. Today there are 160 confirmed students classified as homeless in the district. The Pirates are asking fans to bring items which will help the studnets "in transition" cope with their simple daily needs; soap, shampoo, deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brushes, belts, small boxed cereal, Gatorade, hair brushes, hair ties, shoe laces, etc. A donation table will be sent up in front of the concession stand on the west side of the field.
Trinity and Southwestern will kick-off at 7 p.m. and items can be donated at anytime during the game.
