Men's Golf Earn Team Academic Award
NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced their 2012 team academic awards and Southwestern University was named as an All-Academic Team. SU was one of only 27 Division III schools, 124 nationwide, to earn the distinction and joined Oglethorpe in representing the former SCAC.
All-Academic Teams are those that post a 3.0 cumulative team GPA. DePaul (Division I), Post (Division II), Manhattanville (Division III), Bethel College (Kan.) (NAIA), Dodge City CC (NJCAA DI) and South Mountain CC (NJCAA DII) have been named Academic National Champions for their respective division announced the GCAA. DePaul posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.69.
Arkansas, Brown, Canisius, Harvard, Kennesaw State, Tennessee, Troy, Utah Valley, Valparaiso, William & Mary and Yale also received President's Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

The 2012 Southwestern men finished in sixth place at the SCAC Conference Championships in Tunica, Miss. They return all but one golfer from last year's squad for the 2012-13 season which kicks off on September 10th at the John Bohmann Memorial in Seguin, Texas.
