MEN'S GOLF JUST FIVE STROKES OUT OF FIRST PLACE AFTER DAY ONE AT SCAC CHAMPIONSHIP

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Pirate men's golf team has started off hot at the SCAC Championships and the highly competitive match that was expected has materialized as only five strokes separate the top five teams. Southwestern sits in fifth place overall after the first round of action.

First year James Charles and senior Ricky Jones came out of the start hot and both have posted an opening round 75, five over par. They are currently tied for second place with two other golfers and are just two strokes behind the leader, Chris Morris of Centre.

Sean Madera is currently tied for 22nd place at ten over par after an opening round 80 while Cody Patrick is close behind at 12 over par with an 82 and tied for 27th. Mikey Vaughan rounded out the Pirates' competition in 31st place with an 83 (13 over par).

With the impending poor weather approaching Georgia the tournament will begin round two at 8:00 am with a shot gun start.
