PIRATES FALL TO THIRD IN FINAL ROUND OF WEST REGION INVITATIONAL
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Southwestern men's golf team dropped out of second place in the final round of the West Region Invitational held in Round Rock, Texas on Tuesday. They were eight strokes out of second place and 27 behind first place finisher UT-Brownsville.
Sean Madera continued his consistent strong play with a final round 75, ending in a tie for seventh place with a 223 stroke total. He was the highest finisher for Southwestern. Ricky Jones was close behind, coming in tied for ninth with a 76 in his last round to end with 224 strokes.
James Charles continued to improve throughout the tournament and shot a two over par 74, ending in a tie for 18th place at 230 strokes. Mikey Vaughan rallied well from a tough second round to shoot a 76 for the final round to end in 26th place for 235 stroke total.
Cody Patrick rounded out the top five for Southwestern tied for 44th with an 83 in the final round for 246 strokes. Zach Sewell finished in 50th place after an 85 in the last round with 259 strokes.
Next up for Southwestern is the SCAC Championships beginning on Friday, April 23 in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
