MEN'S GOLF FINISHES IN EIGHTH AT CONCAN INVITATIONAL

CONCAN, Texas - Southwestern University's men's golf team finished in eighth place out of 13 teams at this year's annual Concan Intercollegiate Classic, finishing with 644 strokes, just two out of sixth place.

The Pirates had a shaky start to the tournament. Sean Madera had the best day one round shooting a 74 while Cody Patrick followed with an 78 and the three remaining Pirates, James Charles, Zach Sewell and Ricky Jones, shot a 83, 86, 88 respectively.

Day two was much of the same collectively with some individuals posting vast improvements while others struggled in the second day of action.

Patrick had the highest finish for Southwestern, coming in tied for 11th place with 157 strokes after a second day 79. Madera had a tough end of the tournament, falling to a tie for 14th with a final round 84 for 158 strokes. Sewell came in tied for 41st shooting an 80 in the final round for 166 strokes and Jones was close behind with 168 strokes and an 80 in the last round for 48th place. Charles closed out the Pirates competition with a 90 in the final round for 173 strokes and 56th place.

Southwestern will look to rebound at home on April 12 and 13th at the West Region Invitational.
