MEN'S GOLF SITS IN SIXTH AFTER TWO ROUNDS AT OPENING TOURNAMENT
Southwestern's men's golf team ended the first day after two rounds of play in sixth place out of 12 teams at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational on Monday. This is the first tournament of the fall season for the Pirates.
Senior Ricky Jones led the way for the Pirates shooting a 69 in the first round and 74 in the second to finish with a 143 and in a tie for 10th place. Sophomore Cameron Fanning was close behind playing consistently through both rounds with a 72 and 73 (145) to end in a tie for 15th. First-year James Charles looked confident in his first collegiate outing as he was hot on Fanning's heals with a 146 (72-74) and tied for 18th.
Sophomore Sean Madera started off well with an even par 72, but shot a 77 in the second round to finish in a tie for 32nd. Sophomore Cody Patrick improved his round one score of 78 and shot a 74 in the second round to end in a tie for 43rd at 152 whlie first-year Mikey Vaughan shot a 158.
The Pirates will wrap-up action at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational on Tuesday in Seguin, TX.
