2009 (First-year)
Made four appearances this season, three on the mound and one in the field...allowed four hits and five earned runs in 2.1 innings of work for a 19.29 ERA.

High School
Russell is a 2008 graduate of Elgin High School in Elgin, TX. He was a member of both the Wildcat baseball and football teams. As a football player, Russell was named as a Honorable Mention All-District selection in 2007, 2nd team All-District 2008 and 2nd team Academic All-State Athlete. He was named to the 2nd team All-District and All-Tournament team for baseball.

Personal
Russell is the son of Bill and Janet Kelly and has one brother, Cody. He is majoring in Engineering with a minor in Math.
