GEORGETOWN – Brett Marcom continued to rake in awards on Thursday as he was named NCAA Division III National Pitcher of the Week after throwing a no-hitter in Southwestern University's 2-0 win last weekend.
Marcom, a freshman right-hander from Keller, Texas, threw a seven inning no-hitter March 8 facing just three batters over the minimum for his second win of the year and gave Southwestern their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the year over Schreiner.
He was also named SCAC Pitcher of the Week recording five strikeouts and just two walks for the complete game shutout. It was his second win of the season to go to 2-3 on the year as he leads the team with 17 strikeouts as he was also tabbed to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week.
The Pirates continue SCAC action against 2nd-ranked Trinity in San Antonio starting Friday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with a twin bill scheduled on Saturday.
