On Sunday (Apr. 27) in Greencastle, IN the SU women's tennis team avenged a loss earlier in the season and defeated Colorado College 5-4 to place fifth in the conference for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.

The Pirates overcame losing two out of three doubles matches to pull out the 5-4 victory over the Tigers. On Saturday (Apr. 19), SU lost to Colorado by a margin of 5-4. In doubles, the Pirates victory came from Kelly Finn (Wichita Falls, TX/Burkburnett HS) and Sara Fitzsmmons (Garland, TX/Garland HS) who won 8-6.

Senior Leslie Smith (Temple, TX/Temple HS) won in number one singles 6-1, 6-3. In the second flight, Mary Pennington (San Antonio, TX/Churchill HS) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win. Finn also won her singles match 6-3, 6-4. In the sixth flight, Lali Satyavada (Midland, TX/Lee HS) clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win.
