CARRIER COMPETES AT HISTORIC NCAA DIII SWIM & DIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2009 NCAA Division III Swim and Dive Championships were historic this year with it being the first combined meet ever, but for Jessie Carrier, it was a culmination of four years of tireless work in the pool.
Carrier, a senior from Victoria, TX/St. Joseph HS, is the first Southwestern swimmer to compete at the Championships after qualifying in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.78, which also earned her the All-SCAC honors.
While there, she competed in the 50 yard, 100 yard, and 200 yard freestyle. Carrier captured 20th place in the 50 free with a time of 23.97 and was the highest SCAC finisher in the 100 free where she placed 36th with a time of 52.73. In the 200 free, which she earned a SCAC title at the conference meet, Carrier ended with a time of 1:58.03 for 62nd place.
